Find property to rent in Barrow in Furness with Keys Letting Centre

Barrow in Furness is the largest town in South Cumbria and is home to BAE Systems, which is a world renowned shipyard, designing and building some of the world’s most technically advanced nuclear submarines. Although the area has many interesting ancient features and attractions, the town itself did not take off until the discovery of iron ore deposits encouraged industry to prosper and the population to increase.

Many of the houses around the town centre are from the Victorian era and were built to house employees for the shipyard and other engineering companies on the shipyard supply chains. Many of the houses around the town centre are still these red brick terraced properties, which offer character and good internal space for couples, professionals and families looking to rent. The proximity of the houses is often ideally placed for contractors looking for work in the shipyard, gas and oil industry or other local companies and is also great for local amenities and public transport routes.

Barrow in Furness is located on a peninsula, meaning it is surrounded on three sides by the sea. This offers residents scenic views, idyllic walks and trips out to the beach during the summer months. A visit to Roa Island and the short ferry trip to Piel Island is recommended and visitors can enjoy a beer in the island’s pub or simply soak in the stunning views and wildlife of the Barrow coast.

Cycling is very popular in the area and the Tour De Furness has become a well-liked way for Barrovians to get fitter and raise money for local charities.
